Automobiles in German City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Officers reported they were contacted by a individual who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then located multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say preliminary tests show the substance was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.

A senior representative stated the incident left him without words and had to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
